Today Apple has released some info. on their new phones, which has led me to want to write a post about phone apps and the home search as more people home search on-the-go.

MRED midwest homes appThe best app for home buyers and the home search is, no surprise, from the best way to initially search for a home and view listings…though the MLS (multiple listing service). Our local MLS (MRED – Midwest Real Estate Data) has a great free app called Midwest Homes, which features interactive map searching, finding nearby listings via your GPS, specific location searches and more. The MLS is the epicenter of all listings. Other sites obtain their info. from the MLS and the MLS is where Agents input their listings. Some sites don’t show properties as under contract or closed, when they are unavailable, which confuses buyers. When an Agent or office changes the status of a property on the MLS, or updates info, it will show on the MLS. If you’d like to receive listings e-mailed to you directly from the MLS, let us know via the contact form in the right sidebar of this site. People like receiving listings directly from the MLS because the listings within your criteria are sent to you  (you don’t have to go searching for them) and you have your own client dashboard, where you can make notes, mark what properties you are interested in, etc.

Another app people like is the app. The listings are accurate and frequently updated/refreshed.

However, unlike MLS, which shows all listings provided they were entered into the multiple listing service, some Agents/office choose to only have their listings on the MLS and not other sites, which may include, Trulia, etc.

You should be able to find both apps either via Google Play or iTunes.
