Reasons To Sell This Winter

1. Fewer Homes or Sale & Less Competition

Housing inventory is still under the 6-month supply that is needed for a normal housing market. This means that, in the majority of the country, there are not enough homes for sale to satisfy the number of buyers in the market.

There is also less “competing,” so to speak, for buyers as there are typically more properties for sale in the spring and fewer in the winter. Get ahead of the spring market – don’t wait until additional inventory enters the market – and it should work to your advantage.

2. Winter Home Buyers are Motivated to Purchase

In the Chicago area, with cold winters, and current below zero temps, buyers who are out looking now usually are highly motivated to purchase a property. The start of the new year is also the busiest time for corporate relocation. Waiting until the spring or later in the year to sell, you run the risk of missing out on buyers relocating to the area for their job.

3. The Process Will Be Quicker

By putting a  home on the market during the winter you may experience faster customer service from movers, lawyers, banks, insurance providers, etc. as they are usually not as busy in the beginning of the year.
